The London HR Connection is delighted to invite you to our first webinar of 2021 which is going to examine the numerous personal and professional benefits associated with charity trusteeship.

Volunteering as a trustee is good for your personal development, it’s good for the development of your people and it’s good for reputation of your business. This interactive webinar (sponsored by 10Eighty) will tell you more about how you become a trustee, what are the responsibilities and why supporting your staff to be a trustee has significant business benefits.

The discussion will be led by Penny Wilson, CEO of the  national trustee recruitment charity Getting on Board, alongside her fellow panellists who are senior HR professionals and trustees themselves. These include: Kim Tester, Head of HR for The Office of the Secretary of State for Wales; Emma Hardaker-Jones, Group HR Director at Legal & General; Dee Jas, the founder of D&I consultancy, Colourfull, and former head of HR at the BBC and Net-a-Porter; and Robert Hicks, Group HR Director at Reward Gateway and a LHRC Board member.

Trusteeship is open to people at any stage of their career. There are an estimated 90,000 trustee vacancies in England and Wales across causes as diverse as social mobility, food banks, domestic violence, heritage and climate change.

Supporting your staff to become trustees is win-win-win. It’s good for the charity (75% of charities struggle to find the trustees they need), good for the individual and good for the employer. 96% of trustees say they’ve learned new skills, 84% report mental health benefits, 63% said it extended their networks and 73% say that it boosted their confidence. There are particular benefits in giving diverse staff the board experience which might support their progression.
