According to many of the HR leaders surveyed in a recent global survey, there are critical gaps in alignment between HR teams and the C-suite. Both in executive leadership recognising the importance of priority HR programmes and initiatives and in understanding the value HR was providing to the business.

Some of the findings under discussion will focus on the fact that just 48% of HR professionals say their C-suites take the data from employee surveys seriously, only half say their C-suites recognise that a positive culture leads directly to better business outcomes and, most worryingly, just 27% felt that company leadership believes in HR’s impact on business revenue.

This disconnect is also driving a significant difference of opinions around layoff recovery, something many teams have recently faced and will continue to navigate moving forward. A significant majority of HR leaders (74%) said it takes between four months and up to a year for employee morale and productivity to bounce back after a layoff, while most said that their C-suite (66%) expected a full recovery within three months or less.

Mike Ellwood is a highly accomplished Chair, NED and senior executive with many years experience operating at Board level in a variety of roles across a number of complex global organisations in multiple sectors. This includes many years of corporate banking experience latterly as Head of Corporate & Commercial Banking at Santander and as Managing Director, Structured Finance, at RBS.

Jonathan Edge is the Group HR Director at Quintessential Brands Group where he leads the HR strategy and operations for a global spirits business with over 1000 employees across ten countries. In an impressive, international HR career, Jonathan has gained particular expertise in reward, industrial relations, change and culture management and worked for global leaders including Imperial Tobacco and Nestle.

Filipe Martins is VP People at the collaborative automation platform provider, Cutover. With a passion for organisational design, executive coaching, employee relations, learning, business partnering and diversity and inclusion, he has over a decade of experience in dynamic multinational settings including Funding Circle, Shell, CBRE and Jefferies.

Joanna Kori is Global Head of People for the award-winning dynamic KYC automation platform provider, Encompass Corporation. She is a CIPD Fellow and Fellow of the Learning & Performance Institute, with 25 years of expertise in blended learning technologies consultation and solutions for public sector and private organisations.

Jon Chemouny is head of sales for the EMEA and APAC regions at Lattice, a people management platform that enables leaders to build engaged, high-performing teams. Prior to Lattice, he held a number of growth focused roles at Intercom and also founded two SaaS businesses. Jon is a regular speaker around the topics of people management and high performance culture.
