Expectations of CPOs have never been higher. Strategist, thought-leader, CEO confidant, wellbeing guru, change-maker and problem-fixer…the range of hats is endless. So, when seeking to make yourself ‘future-ready,’ where should you focus your attention and what routes should you pursue in order to sharpen your CPO skillset?

As workplaces evolve at record speed and technological advances impact daily on organisational structures and on how work is being done, the ability to embrace critical thinking and move beyond rigid, tactical HR functions will be key to your success.

In this interactive panel discussion, we’ll learn first-hand from people currently in the CPO seat (who, through their involvement with an organisation called Nexus, have committed time to help (re)define a path for future CPOs) and also from business leaders who offer a more holistic view on the likely future career path for HR professionals.

This session will give you actionable insight into what it will mean to be a CPO in the (near) future world of work covering topics such as navigating RemCo, influencing the ExCo, building a dynamic people plan, leading through change, understanding the ESG imperative and how best to develop your personal financial and commercial literacy.

Natalie McClean is the CPO at the leading insurance advisory business, Partners&. Prior to joining Partners&, Natalie developed and led successful and innovative HR teams at RBS, Jelf, Hero, Motocorp and, most recently, Oxfam.

Catherine Douglas is the Chief People and Sustainability Officer at The Co-operative Bank.  Before joining The Co-operative Bank, Catherine was Business Banking Director at TSB Bank and the Commercial Director for Business Banking at Santander.

Kate Moughtin is the CPO at the international insurance group, Hiscox. Prior to joining Hiscox in 2023, she spent many years at Barclays most recently as Director of People Transformation.

Gira Davda is the Chief of Staff and CPO at the leading pensions specialist, Brightwell. Prior to joining Brightwell, she was Head of Productivity, People and Transformation at NatWest and, before that, she spent 14 years at UBS where she was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Department.
